Kristen Stewart starred in all five films of the saga ‘twilight’, which were a box office success around the world. At that time the actress began a relationship with her co-star, Robert Pattinson.
Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first of the films that adapted the series of novels to the big screen, says that Robert just saw Stewart at the casting and fell in love, however, that attraction came to worry him, since the actress was a minor at the time: she was 17 years old and he was 21.
“There was great chemistry between them. They did the kiss scene and Rob fell to the ground in excitement. I told him to calm down a bit,” said the filmmaker on her way through the ‘Big Hit Show’ podcast.
To her surprise, it was Stewart herself who insisted that she wanted Pattison to play immortal vampire Edward Cullen and the anguish that the cinematographic couple ended up becoming a real one, became greater.
“At the end of that casting, Kristen said, ‘It has to be Rob.’ And it is true that they had a lot of chemistry. But I also thought, ‘Oh my God, Kristen is 17, I don’t want to get in trouble.’ So I told Rob, ‘By the way, Kristen is 17 years old. In our country it is illegal to have sex.. And he replied: ‘it’s fine, whatever’”, Catherine clarified in her interview.
In the state of California, the age of sexual consent is 18 years old. If they had sex it was a crime, even if it was consensual or initiated by Kristen it was considered child abuse.
Finally, it seems that the age difference quickly became obsolete, since two years later, Kristen and Rob publicly confirmed their courtship, which ended in 2013 as a result of the controversy caused by the infidelity committed by the actress in her affair with him. director Rupert Sanders, who directed her on the set of ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’.
Kristen is currently engaged to her girlfriend, screenwriter Dylan Meyer. Last November, the interpreter of Princess Diana in the tape ‘Spencer’ revealed that it was she who finally asked him to marry her, thus confirming his future passage through the altar.
Meanwhile, Robert prepares to debut in the world of comics with Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, and in which he will play Bruce Wayne himself.
