This week, the affection that the Mexican public has for bachata was on full display as Romeo Santos, the former member of Aventura, landed in Mexico to perform a series of concerts after a successful stint in the Iberian Peninsula.

Santos’ performances in Tijuana, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Querétaro were the perfect prelude to a climactic double presentation in Mexico City, where the Dominican bachatero packed the Campo Marte.

Taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. amid a set of red lights, Santos kicked off the concert with “El pañuelo,” a collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalía. From that moment, the audience was swept up in a sea of emotions. Opening with songs from his first solo album, “Fórmula Vol. 1,” Santos performed hits like “La Diabla,” “Llévame contigo,” and “Promise,” reminding fans of his early days as a soloist.

The concert also featured a selection of hits from “Fórmula Vol. 2,” including “Necio,” “Hilito,” “Odio,” “Cancioncitas de amor,” and the crowd favorite, “Eres mía.” By this point, the audience was fully immersed in the music, surrendering to the bachatero’s emotive performance.

In addition to his solo work, Santos’ repertoire included well-known songs from his Aventura days, such as “Imitadora,” “Sobredosis,” “El Farsante,” and “X SI.” The rain held off, allowing fans to enjoy the performance uninterrupted.

The night’s highlight came when Santos called his own mariachi band onto the stage, paying homage to Mexico by performing “El Rey” by José Alfredo Jiménez. The surprises didn’t stop there, as Santos invited Christian Nodal to the stage for a rendition of “Me extraño,” a song they had recorded together for the album “Fórmula Vol. 3.” Nodal continued to thrill the audience by performing two of his songs, “De los besos que te di” and “Adiós, amor,” leaving the stage to applause.

Santos closed the night with a tribute to Aventura, performing songs such as “Hermanita,” “El Perdedor,” “El malo,” and “Obsesión.” The performance, full of nostalgia and sensuality, was a fitting end to the “Fórmula Vol. 3” tour. The audience left the Campo Marte with an unforgettable memory of a night that celebrated bachata, nostalgia, and the undeniable talent of Romeo Santos.
