Investigations into the case are ongoing.
“This morning outside Zen Leaf on Halsted Street an individual attacked a contracted external security guard with a weapon outside the dispensary. Both individuals were taken to hospitals with serious injuries,” the dispensary told NBC 5 in a statement.
The dispensary added that the place will be closed for the rest of the holidays while authorities continue their investigations.
Some sources connected to the investigations told the outlet that the suspect carrying the ax in a large backpack could have been a disgruntled customer.
