Serena Williams saw her participation in the US Open end after being defeated by the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, but beyond the result, the American tennis player moved the public present at the Billie Jean King, by dedicating some emotional words to his parents and sister Venus.
Once the match was over, Serena broke down in tears while giving her possible last statements as a player and thanked her father and mother for all the support and training she received since she was a child until he became the living legend he is today.
“I tried to do everything I could. Thanks dad, I know you’re watching. Thanks Mom. Thanks to all who have been there for decades”, expressed the youngest of the 40-year-old tennis player, who was surrounded by all the affection of the fans present.
Also, the protagonist of the night, did not forget her older sister, who was watching her throughout the match. “These are tears of happiness. Serena exists because Venus existed”expressed the player visibly moved by the moment.
In that sense, Serena Williams, who prior to the US Open had expressed her desire to retire from tennis, left between seeing that her decision has not changed and expressed some farewell words thanking his fans for all the support provided during his career.
“It’s been a fun ride. It has been the most wonderful trip of my life. I am grateful and thankful to all the people who said ‘come on Serena’. You brought me here. Thank you all ”, she argued after the end of the match.
