Serious carelessness: young man in critical condition after being hit by a train while lifting his backpack in the New York Subway

A 23-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit in the head by the New York City Subway for bending over to pick up his backpack. without seeing that the train was coming, in Brooklyn.

The unidentified victim was injured on the platform of the Atlantic Ave Station/Barclay’s , when a Q line train bound for Coney Island hit it around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the police, The young man was on the platform near the subway tracks with his backpack at his feet and as he bent down to pick it up he was hit by a train arriving at the station.

He did not fall on the tracks, but suffered serious injuries, including a head trauma, two broken legs and “multiple injuries throughout the body” in the accident, NYPD.

Doctors rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he remained in critical condition today, as police and MTA officials continued to investigate the incident, he said. DailyNews.
