Shooting at E. Tremont Ave Cortona nightclub in the Bronx leaves one dead

Two men were wounded after they had an argument in a nightclub, unfortunately one of them lost his life due to several bullet impacts. So far no arrests have been made for this incident.

Early Saturday morning, New York City Police Department (NYPD) authorities reported a fight inside a nightclub in the Bronx, where a man was killed after being shot several times. The 34-year-old man was found by law enforcement inside his car a few blocks from the nightclub.

According to the NYPD report, he was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital but was pronounced dead at the scene due to blood loss from his wounds. The victim was identified as Darnell Johnson, a resident of Wakefield in the Bronx. In addition to Johnson, his companion was injured in the same incident and suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm.

Two men were about to leave the establishment on E. Tremont Ave in Crotona around 3 a.m. when they argued with several nightclub owners. After exchanging words with a group of youths, the two victims left the premises in a car that was subsequently intercepted two blocks away.

The persons with whom Darnell Johnson and his companion had been arguing opened fire on them, causing several wounds to Johnson. While the fatality was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, his companion with minor injuries was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

At this time, no suspects have been identified in the shooting. Several NYPD officers made a tour of the scene, along with a review of the security cameras, but so far, no progress has been reported.
