Two burned vehicles and eight dead left a confrontation today in Guachochi, Chihuahua, Mexico, named Pueblo Magico (Magic Town) this week. According to Chihuahua authorities, the confrontation occurred on the road to Piedra Agujerada and the municipality’s landfill.
Two incinerated vehicles, a Silverado and a Frontier, were also located.
In addition to the 8 lifeless people, three of them burned, and an injured man was taken to a hospital.
Elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) arrived at the scene along with personnel from the Mexican National Guard (GN), the Mexican National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), and the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), who deployed an operation to respond to the report of an armed confrontation on the outskirts of the town of Guachochi.
Personnel from the Mexican Forensic Services, the Mexican Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Forensic Medical Service processed the scene, removing and transferring the deceased to the Semefo for the corresponding procedures.

Among the victims was the criminal leader from Ciudad Juarez, Melquiades Diaz Mesa, alias “El Chapo Calin,” a Sinaloa Cartel member under the command of the Salgueiro family.
