Spotify will enable a new audiobook feature in its application, thus expanding the content catalog it offers to its millions of users around the world. The company indicated that this type of content, unlike music, must be purchased by users additionally so that they can be heard.

They indicated that users have a catalog of over 300,000 audiobooks which can be downloaded from now. They pointed out that due to the size of the catalog, now Spotify is one of the platforms with the largest number of books in this format. With the launch of this service, users will be able to enjoy a new user interface designed specifically for this type of content, which is also adapted to the traditional music content that has characterized Spotify over the years.

“This is just the beginning of the Spotify audiobooks journey. We have been working to create a seamless audiobook experience, and we will continue to build and innovate on this in the future,” the company said in a statement.

From Spotify they explained that the reason for entering the audiobook business is that believe that this model has unlimited potential. Furthermore, venturing into this business allows the company to fulfill its objective of becoming a package that allows users to cover all their entertainment needs from the auditory point of view.

“Audiobooks are next to come because we see a substantial untapped market: while audiobooks represent only a 6% to 7% share of the overall book market, the category is growing 20% ​​year over year,” they detailed. .

As in the case of music, users will be able to configure the application to be able to download audiobooks in such a way that can listen to them being without Internet connection.
