Incredible as it may seem, Josh Wardle decided to create a game especially dedicated to his partner. That’s how he was born Wordle, a word game that, in recent weeks, has become a necessity for many since it was made public and was acquired by The New York Times. Based on the web, Wordle is extremely simple: it is about guessing a word in only six attempts and when these attempts are exhausted, there is nothing left to do but leave the game until the next day.

Wordle’s acquisition by The New York Times is estimated to be valued at least $1 million.due to its successful reception by the public that grows every day since the game was released in October last year.

Despite its acquisition, Wordle is still free, although many users already predict that it won’t be for long due to the appearance of some subscriptions. To get ahead of this grim ending and keep guessing words, gamers around the world have already used a few methods to keep playing for free despite any odds, at least for a few more years.

How to download Wordle and continue playing it for free

Because it is web-based, Wordle relies on a browser to keep working, that is, the game does not yet have an application that can be downloaded and maintained on different devices. However, there is a very simple method that not only allows you to continue playing it for free for a few years, but also ensures that it can be played offline. The steps to follow are those:

1. Go to the so far official address of the game: https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/. Once inside, the page will display instructions on how to play.

2. Click outside the instructions to make them disappear. The game board will be displayed ready to enter the words, so you can start a game to try your luck. Just enter five-letter words (not conjugated verbs) and if you don’t get it right on the first try, the game will show which letters are inside the target word through colors. If it lights up yellow, the letter is inside the word, but not in the right place. If it lights up green, you are inside the word and in the right place.

3. Once the word of the day is hit, the game lights up all the boxes green to indicate that we have hit. If all attempts are exhausted, you must wait until the next day to continue playing.

4. When we finish the game —or much before— we can click with the right button, on the screen, to select the option “Save as”, as if it were an image. By selecting that option, the browser redirects us to the computer files where we can save the entire page.

when we do this, All Wordle files are saved and we can play it whenever we want, for free and without an internet connection. It is important to note that the original version of Wordle is in English, therefore the words of the day must be entered in that language. However, there is a Spanish version of the game available at https://wordle.danielfrg.com/.
