Southwest Airlines is an American low-cost carrier headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The airline was established in 1967 by Herb Kelleher as a regional airline serving the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The airline has since grown to become the largest carrier in the United States, operating more than 4,000 flights daily.
Southwest is known for its low fares and its idiosyncratic culture. The airline has a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and offers a single-class cabin service. Southwest does not have first-class or business-class sections on its flights. Instead, it offers what it calls “Business Select,” which allows passengers to board early, receive a complimentary alcoholic drink, and earn additional frequent flyer points.
