The Reddit app, with changes so you can discover more communities

The application is available for devices with Android and iOS operating systems.

The application of Reddit reinvents itself with new tools and functionalities that intend to facilitate the navigation of its users when trying to find information within its platform.

This is the first time in over 2 years that the Reddit app receives such major changes. One of them is the addition of a new tab called “Discover” in which personalized recommendations are shown, based on the tastes and content consumed by the user.

Also, the new version of the app has improved navigation systems in the “Community” and “Profile” menus. In this way users can manage their subscriptions and configure their user more easily.

From Reddit they explained that the implemented changes were developed based on the comments of the users themselves, who asked for a simpler mechanism to be able to see the topics that interested them.

Although the platform currently has a vast amount of content, published by the users themselves, who are grouped in more than 100,000 communitiesmany of them are not easily accessible because they do not have enough exposure.

“The biggest thing that we’re really trying to figure out here is that it can be difficult to find subreddits and communities that users can develop a deep connection with,” explains Reddit’s Director of Product for Content and Communities Jason Costa.

He adds that on many occasions finding a subreddit can be a complex process that requires time and work. That is why they wanted to simplify this whole process, which is now possible thanks to the “Discover” tab.

According to what has been seen, the new discover button will be located between the start button (located in the lower left corner of the screen) and the “+” button (located in the middle part of the menu).

From the images published by Reddit it was known that the “Discover” tab symbol will resemble a compasssomething that is recurring in other types of applications.

It should be noted that in the case of new users, who still do not follow any type of content, this tab will recommend generic content that is popular within the platform. Once your profile reflects your interests, recommendations will be tailored to them and you will receive personalized recommendations.

However, something to note is that This section will not show any type of content or communities that are cataloged as Not Safe For Work (NSFW) which may contain sensitive information and pornographic content.
