The son of the municipal president of Santiago Jamiltepec, Cecilia Rivas Márquez, and two of his escorts, were murdered with more than 25 shots in the municipal area of Río Grande, belonging to Villa de Tututepec, in the state of Oaxaca in Mexico.
According to Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office, who started a narco-style murder investigation for the triple murder, the crime occurred around 2:00 p.m. (local time) on Morelos street in the aforementioned community belonging to the coastal region of Oaxaca.
According to local media, the bodies of Rafael Yglesias Rivas and two of his bodyguards were found inside a burgundy double-cab Nissan Frontier pickup.
Following the report in the wake of the first investigations, and the information collected from the local residents, a group of armed men were responsible for the attack. From their vehicle, they reached the truck in which the son of the official Rivas Márquez was traveling.
After committing the crime against the son of the Mexican official, the attackers fled shooting the victims.
Criminal Investigation Agency’s officials reported 25 percussion caps at the scene.
According to the investigations carried out by the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office, the attack meant to settle accounts between drug trafficking groups, for alleged links of one of the victims with organized crime. The report did not specify whether they referred to the mayor’s son or his bodyguards.
