Bad news for Keylor Navas and the Costa Rican national team: The goalkeeper will hardly have any activity on the pitch during the next season with Paris Saint-Germain, since the manager of the Ligue 1 champion has confirmed this.
Christophe Galtier, the coach of the Parisian team declared in a press conference that next season there will no longer be rotations in the goal, something that happened throughout last season, thus ruling out the participation of the Tico goalkeeper, who will be a substitute for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
“Keylor made important and decisive saves, he works very well, but I was very clear with the goalkeepers at the start of the season, I don’t want a rotationI want to work with a number 1. He knows what I expect of him in his number 2 role.“, the strategist bluntly mentioned.
“I know that Keylor Navas is really frustrated by the situationbut I trust him as the second goalkeeper”, added the coach.
Although Navas has not commented on the matter, it is a fact that lack of activity could influence your performance for the Qatar World Cup 2022; however, even though he is a world-class goalkeeper there is nothing he can do about it, since He has a contract with PSG until 2024so he will not be able to leave this summer, unless a club that wanted him as a starter paid his termination clause, which seems very difficult at 35 years old.
For now, his only option seems to be the French Cup, where Galtier could give him playing time.
