Mourning, this is how basketball is in Italy for Haitem Fathallah, player of the Series C Gold (Third Italian category), who died in a hospital after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest during his team’s game, the Fortitudo Messina, against Reggio Calabria.
Fathallah went into cardiac arrest in the third quarter and fell to the ground. The game was immediately interrupted, and the player was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors could not save his life, reported the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP).

Born in Agrigento, south of Sicily, Fathallah played in Messina since 2016, after a stage with Porto Empedocle, Racalmuto and Licata. He was 32 years old, according to EFE.
