Jaime Camil will return to Mexican screens with a new facet; the actor starred in the biographical series El Rey, produced by Caracol Televisión, so he had to study Vicente Fernández in depth to personify him to perfection.
Long before the Charro de Huentitán fell into bed before his death, he agreed to launch a series about his life, leaving it in the hands of his family, Caracol Televisión, and Netflix.
With his death on December 12, 2021, the responsibility of playing him correctly fell completely in the hands of Jaime Camil and the rest of the production since, from that moment on, they had to rely on his talent to be able to copy Chente’s behavior, voice, gestures and appearance for the bioseries.

In a joint work, Por ella soy Eva star had to be characterized as Vicente from head to toe: he was given Chente’s iconic mustache, his sideburns reached his jaw, he had bushy eyebrows, and his hair had to be dyed black.
He also wore suits identical to some that Vicente wore at the most important moments of his career, and when he was out of the role of singer, he was dressed in clothes of the time.
According to what Jaime Camil shared with Infobae Mexico at the world premiere of the series, he intended to make the singer of Por tu maldito amor proud, as he and the other actors and staff made a great effort to bring his life -as he would have wanted it- to the small screen.

“A project and an image with the dimension of Vicente can’t be done on the spur of the moment. You have to do it meticulously and as perfectly as possible“, added the singer.
When does “El Rey,” starring Jaime Camil, premiere?
The only series authorized by Vicente Fernández about his life, El Rey, will premiere on free-to-air television in the next few days, according to TV Azteca, the TV station that will broadcast it.
The bioseries will air on Azteca UNO on August 14 at 7:30 pm.

Camil shared in an interview with Ventaneando that even though the series already premiered on Netflix in September 2022, the public will be surprised to see the version that TV Azteca will broadcast, as they made changes to make it more interesting for the audience.
El Rey consists of 36 episodes that talk about the life of Vicente Fernández, from his childhood to one of the most important moments of his career. To achieve this, in addition to Jaime, two other actors played Chente in other periods of his life.
Kaled Acab was responsible for playing Vicente in the first part of his childhood, while Sebastián García in the rest of his childhood, Sebastián Dante in his youth, and, to close, Camil in the rest of his life.

In addition to characterizing themselves as Chente, the four actors had to try to match his voice, as they also sang some of his most famous songs. This was the most complicated challenge for all of them since, according to Jaime, no one would ever be able to have a voice similar to Vicente’s.
“It was a very strong challenge because a person’s voice is a person’s fingerprint. It is unrepeatable. No one will ever sing like Vicente, and no one will ever have his voice, never,” said the actor to Venga la Alegría.
The cast for this series was selected by Caracol Televisión and approved by the Fernández family. Likewise, Charro de Huentitán ‘s children and wife were responsible for keeping a close eye on the production of this project.
