A 16-year-old teenager and a 20-year-old were killed last night by unknown men in the urban area of Coamo (downtown), the Puerto Rico Police reported this Monday.
The victims were identified as Yavier E. Rodríguez Reyes, 16, and Yantzel A. Alvarado Reyes, 20.
As detailed by the Police in a report, a call at 8:25 at night to the 9-1-1 Emergency System, alerted the authorities about shots in San Thomas Street.
When the police officers arrived in the area, they found the bodies of the young man and the adolescent inside a vehicle with bullet wounds that caused their death.
The agent Arnold García assigned to the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigation Corps of Aibonito, together with the prosecutor on duty Juan Santos, took charge of the investigation.
With these two additional murders reported on Sunday night, they bring the total homicides recorded over the weekend to eight.
In this way, they reach 594 violent crimes that occurred in Puerto Rico in 2021, a difference of 84 more murders compared to last year to date, according to Police statistics.
