In the wake of a disturbing femicide case, two public servants from the state of Morelos find themselves entangled in the judicial process. Uriel Carmona, the prosecutor of Morelos, and Joel “N”, another state public servant, are both under scrutiny for their alleged roles in the crime.
Uriel Carmona faces accusations
Uriel Carmona, known as Uriel “N,” has been ordered into preventive detention by a control judge. The accusation levied against him is a severe one: he is believed to have aided and abetted in the femicide of Ariadna Fernanda in October 2022.
Joel “N” also in the spotlight
Similarly, Joel “N”, another public servant from Morelos, has been detained under accusations of playing a role in the same crime. After his arrest near the Morelos Prosecutor’s Office on September 8, he was transferred to the CDMX and later to the Reclusorio Preventivo Varonil Oriente.
A press release highlighted the suspicion that Joel “N” might have contributed to obfuscating the femicide case involving the young Mexican woman. Following his initial hearing and the validation of his arrest by the judge, charges were formally raised against him. Similar to Uriel “N”, Joel’s defense sought an extension to the proceedings. Although the request was granted, Joel “N” remains incarcerated.
Throughout this judicial process, Joel “N”, like Uriel “N”, will be given the presumption of innocence in accordance with the National Code of Criminal Procedures. The final determination of his involvement will come from an official verdict by the jurisdictional body.
As the investigation continues and the legal process unfolds, both individuals will be under intense scrutiny. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of justice and the rule of law, especially in cases as grave as femicide.
