The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that will apply an increase in shipping prices for the high season of Christmas holidays and end of the year.

The adjustment will be temporary and, according to a USPS statement, will allow it to be competitive during the peak season for parcel shipping in the country, in which operating costs are increased.

The increase was already approved by the USPS governors on August 9 and will apply to the following national retail services:

– Priority Mail Express (PME),
– Priority Mail (PM),
– First-Class Package Service (FCPS),
– Parcel Select
– USPS Retail Ground

It was clarified that international services will not have changes in their rates.

seasonal increases will be in force from the first minute of October 2 next, until midnight on January 22, 2023, according to information published by the USPS.

“These temporary fees will keep USPS competitive while providing the agency with the revenue to cover additional costs in anticipation of peak season volume.”

Just last month, the USPS increased the cost of Forever postage stamps to 60 cents.
