Venezuela announced interim coach for the South American Qualifiers

Just on Friday the sudden resignation of the Portuguese José Peseiro was made official due to a 14-month debt in his position as national team of Venezuela and this Monday the federation of that country communicated the name of the new coach for the next three qualifying matches.

The chosen one is the Venezuelan Leonardo Gonzalez, who is currently the coach of Deportivo Lara in the local tournament. A month ago he had no job, but today he has two in parallel.

González, born in Valera, arrives on an interim basis for the duels against Argentina (September 2), Peru (September 5) and Paraguay (September 9). A triple date next month in Conmebol, heading to Qatar 2022.

However, in the statement, the Venezuelan Football Federation made it clear that they are in talks with who will be the final coach.

“We are working hard to announce who will be the new Absolute National Coach with an international profile, and with whom a new selection process will begin, information that will be released to public opinion once the contractual agreement is reached”, reads the text .

La Vinotinto currently has four points and is ninth in the table as a result of a win and a draw in six games. However, they are four points from the playoff.
