BOGOTA, Colombia — Renowned RCN news anchor Paola Toro was injured Saturday afternoon after a tent unexpectedly collapsed on top of her during a live outdoor broadcast in Tenza, Boyaca.
The incident occurred just after Toro signed off from her midday news program around 12:30 pm local time. Footage shows Toro standing in front of the camera, saying goodbye to viewers, when suddenly, a white tent set up to provide shade falls directly onto her head and neck.
“The wind played against us, but rest assured that we will see each other soon,” Toro assured followers in an Instagram post shortly after the accident. She explained that an onslaught of wind had caused the temporary structure to topple.
The viral video has generated concern amongst Toro’s fans, many of whom sent well wishes for a speedy recovery across social media platforms.
“Dios santo,” wrote one viewer on Twitter. “Espero que ella se encuentre bien.”
At the time of the incident, RCN did not provide any updates about Toro’s health status or the exact circumstances surrounding the collapse. This prompted criticism from some viewers.
“Regrettably, RCN did not report on the health of Paola, the very good news anchorwoman of noon today Saturday,” said Twitter user @GerardoSanson.
