The violence in Mexico does not stop and this Sunday a new dark episode was written in the aztec country. What seemed like a sunny afternoon in Mazamitla, in the state of Jalisco, ended in a shootout between armed groups that left three dead.
According to official data, the dead people were suspected criminals. The deceased were between 25 and 35 years of age, and have multiple impacts by firearm.
“The bodies of three men were located, who allegedly lost their lives due to injuries caused by firearms, for which the investigation folder has already begun, notifying the Agent of the Public Ministry of the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office,” said the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office.
At the same time, on social networks, they reported blockades with cargo trucks and burning cars, for which different state and federal corporations took on the task of conducting tours of the area and reopening the roads.
In this regard, the agency mentioned that, “On the burning vehicles, the fire has already been extinguished. The ministerial authority was also informed for the corresponding investigation.”.
Other users mentioned how they had to take shelter in stores, hotels or anywhere within reach in order not to be caught in the middle of the shooting.
Mazamitla is located on the border between Jalisco and Michoacán, an area disputed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel with criminal cells with which they previously maintained an alliance, which fractured after the massacre in San José de Gracia, Michoacán.
