VIDEO: Zelensky is applauded in the European Parliament, where an interpreter almost bursts into tears when translating a message

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky was applauded while offering a speech before the European Parliament to ask for help in the face of Russia’s invasion of his country. The answer was a standing ovation.

The Ukrainian president, who has become something of a hero for his actions on the ground as he grapples with his government, asked Parliament for help.

“We are dealing with lives. Without you, Ukraine will be alone. We have proven our strength… Show that you will not leave us alone. Then life will defeat death,” Zelensky said.

The representatives of the 27 member states of the European Union listened to the message via videoconference.

“This is the price of freedom. We are only fighting for our land. And for our freedom, despite the fact that all cities in our country are now under lockdown,” Zelensky said.

The voice of the translator was heard with brokennessespecially when Zelensky spoke about the right of Ukrainians to defend their children, to see them alive.

“We are fighting for our rights, for our freedom, for our lives and now we are fighting for our survival,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky stressed that his country will not be “broken.”

“No one is going to break us. We are strong. We are Ukrainians”, closed Zelensky.

The president raised his fist, while receiving an ovation from the European representatives.

Until now, The United States and its allies in Europe have sent humanitarian aid to Ukraineas well as funds for military equipment.
