Hiring season for the holidays started at Walmart with the opening of 40,000 jobs.
The largest retailer in the United States joined the announcements of other companies that are already looking to swell their ranks of workers in the face of what will be the most important sales stage of the year.
Despite the good news, this year, Walmart offered about 110,000 fewer seasonal seatscompared to the 2021 offer.
However, the opening of jobs is good news, as it includes a variety of opportunities spread across virtually every location than the Bentonville, Arkansas-based chain.
“We will welcome approximately 40,000 additional associates in a variety of seasonal and full time in all our business.”, cites a statement released by Walmart.
In recent weeks, Walmart, like other retailers, has not only prepared for the holiday season by hiring, but also by posting sales on holidays such as Labor Day, with which they seek to thin their inventories.
What Seasonal Booths Walmart Offers
The 40,000 new positions will be spread across the country and include:
Store employees for customer serviceeither within physical stores or for collection and delivery services.
truck drivers full-time.
Customer Service Associates for call centers.
Fewer places for the 2022 Christmas season
While this year Walmart reopened its hiring season, compared to 2021 job openings for the holiday season, the offer is significantly lower.
This year, the retail giant opened a quarter of the jobs it offered in 2021 for the Christmas season, the most relevant in sales for the retail sector.
According to company data, in 2021 it opened 150,000 seasonal jobscompared to the 40,000 it has available for the next few months before the end of the year.
Some analysts believe that Walmart is adjusting its seasonal hiring strategy, mainly due to the wave of hiring it made at the end of 2021, according to a report from Business Insider.
Benefits for your current workers
Walmart announced that as part of its seasonal hiring process, it will also offer its current employees who can choose to extend their working hours or have extra shifts.
“It has never been easier for part-time associates to take on additional shifts and create their own schedules with the flexibility they desire,” the company said in a statement.
