Traditional Mexican music lost one of its great interpreters, Vicente Fernandez. The patriarch of one of the most respected and beloved dynasties, passed away last December at the age of 81, leaving a gap in the music industry that no one will ever be able to fill. A few months before his death, a Colombian production company began recording the series on “El Charro de Huentitán”, starring actor Jaime Camil.
Before the death of the father of Alejandro Fernández “El Potrillo”, this project continues its course and its premiere is expected during this 2022. The Vicente Fernández series is produced by Caracol Televisión, you will have your premiere on Netflix and will be made up of 36 chapters.
It will tell part of his childhood in his native Huentitán El Alto, Jalisco state, Mexico, as well as his way to become one of the great idols of music.
In a telephone interview with El Universal, Catalina Porto, Executive Manager of Caracol Televisión and president of Caracol Estudios México, stated that she longed for the opening day, to have Don Vicente Fernández and that he could see the complete series.
It has been very sad for us, we also believe that it does not really change things much for us.
The recordings began on September 27, almost two months after Don Chente was hospitalized in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Catalina Porto plans to finish filming next February.
He also expressed that after the death of the interpreter of songs such as “Acá entre nos”, “El Rey” and many more, not many have spoken about the expected series, “because we do not want it to be interpreted in the wrong way, we do not see it as an opportunity, but quite the opposite. “
Long before his health problems, the grandfather of fellow singers Camila and Alex Fernández, carried out several hours of video calls with Catalina Porto and part of her team, to share various stories of his life and to be able to carry out the series.
Last August Don Vicente Fernández suffered a fall from his height at his home, at Rancho Los Tres Potrillos, located in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco. He was rushed to Hospital Country 2000 in Guadalajara. Later, when subjected to several studies, Doctors diagnosed Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves.
This syndrome caused him other health problems, spending more than four months in the hospital, where he finally passed away on December 12, 2021, just when in Mexico the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe is celebrated.
