Depending on the configuration, WhatsApp allows or prevents our contacts from viewing the statuses that we publish.

Being the most used instant messaging application in the world, WhatsApp does not stop updating. In recent years, we have seen the emergence of new features within it that allow interaction, but which have also become a very specific new source of information. Among the most prominent are the statuses, a tool that gives users the ability to publish content to share it with family and friends for 24 hours. After that time, the update disappears automatically.

In this way, interaction between users is generated and conversations can be started around what has been published. The statuses are also often very useful to disseminate important information among our contacts, but many times we do not know who can see this information or if it has reached where we want. Here are some simple steps to be able to discard all doubts from the application’s start menu:

1. Go to the phone’s home screen to open WhatsApp.

2. Once inside the application, go to the bottom to see the menu options displayed. In the lower left corner is the “States” tab where we must click.

3. The published statuses will appear on the screen. The most recent ones will automatically be placed in the first rows and will define the image that is displayed as a preview. To be able to see all the corresponding information, just click on “My status”. That way, WhatsApp will redirect to the list that contains all the statuses.

5. The full status will open showing the published image or video. A scroll arrow will appear at the bottom, accompanied by a symbol and a number. The symbol represents the visualizations and the number represents the quantity of the visualizations that the application has accumulated up to that moment. The number usually goes up as time goes on. For more details on who has seen the publication, just click on the symbol.

6. Immediately a list appears with all the contacts who have seen the publication. This list contains all the information of each person and also mentions the exact time in which they could see the corresponding status.

As with WhatsApp conversations, statuses in this app also allow the user to set certain restrictions to limit access to their posts. In that sense, the privacy menu can make them visible to friends (it must be added to the phone’s contacts) or make them only visible to some people or be prohibited for others.
