Starting October 25, every Whole Foods delivery order placed through Amazon Prime will include a delivery charge of $ 9.95. Amazon Prime members were notified of the change on Friday.
The new rate is designed to help to cover operational costs associated with delivery such as equipment and technology without increasing grocery pricessaid a Whole Foods spokesperson.
Free one hour food pickup will continue to be available to Prime members. The fee will also not apply to customers requesting deliveries through Amazon Fresh.

Grocery prices rise
The move by the Amazon-owned company comes as American consumers are paying a higher price for food.
Grocery prices suffered a 3% increase last year, according to the Consumer Price Index. During the same period the prices of food offered by restaurants increased 4.7%.
Amazon acquired Whole Foods in 2017The following year, it implemented its free delivery service within two hours of ordering from grocery stores.
