A teenager in Wisconsin was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of a 7-year-old relative that he was beaten and tortured for not knowing the Bible verses, prosecutors said.

In June of this year, Damian Hauschultz, 17, had pleaded guilty in June to first degree reckless murder, according to police records; however, charges such as child abuse and substantial battery did not proceed.

“My goal is to make sure he is incarcerated long enough to mature and develop, to work on education, to work on his treatment and to control his anger.”Jerilyn Dietz, a Manitowoc County Circuit Court judge, said during sentencing Thursday.

Damian’s father will go to trial in December to account for eight charges, including a felony murderwhile his mother, Tina Mckeever-Hauschultz, was sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to failing to avoid the physical and mental torture to which Ethan was subjected.
